[It's been a long time. It's an understatement, of course, Sam knows that the second the thought crosses her mind as she stands outside of the Washingtons' home. It's been a long time can apply to so much here. That night, Hannah and Beth, being here at this house. She had known it would be weird before she even came over, but standing here now made the reality of it heavier for her.
The truth was, it's been a long time since she's seen Josh. For a while there, she hadn't responded back to his phone calls, the letters she got in the mail. Recovering from the night on the mountain, from the horror show they had all been through had been hard. Josh was just a harsh reminder that parts of that night had been him. How was she supposed to get past that when they had been - something. Friends, for sure. There was history, and then there was that night.
Therapy helps. She's careful to skirt around the truth of the matter - the wendigos - because she doesn't want to be locked up, but she talks about Josh a lot.
And it's why she picks up a letter. And another. Until she's read them all.
It starts with a letter back, and then phone calls.
That wasn't exactly easy for Sam, but now standing outside of his house, she realizes that had been a lot easier than whatever this is.
Be a big girl, Sam.
She continues walking up to the door, trying to bury the anxiety crawling over her skin.
She knocks on the door.]
