Vanessa does want him to leave her alone. To stop being a constant in her thoughts, for her body to forget the way he felt brushed up against her, her mouth to forget the taste of his. It's all too much to deal with, and she can't keep herself grounded - can't be good - if what she wants is the one guy who is the absolute worse for her.
If he was gone, she wouldn't have to deal with her wants and feelings. Wouldn't have to deal with his either. Wouldn't have to deal with his betrayals. Wouldn't have to deal with the fact that she wants to forgive him anyway.
Partying, though, that's a good distraction. And having a usually fashionable fashion designer for a mother helps her and the girls with the picking of the costumes, that helps. Her dress is fifties style meets modern embellishments. This is exactly what she needs. Not Stanton. Not being a goddess. Just her friends and a fun night.
