"It'd be pointless if I escaped," he points out. It's not like she's going to sit here and babysit him personally, after all. She's too important, has too many patients to look over, for that.
His gaze remains on hers as she talks. She's right, and he can't argue with that. But he doesn't say what he's thinking, that his teammates and himself are different. Because he'd send them off, he'd knock them unconscious himself if he had to. But his own life? It's more easily tossed aside if it means keeping them alive and winning this.
"Don't worry. I'd send them to you if that happens," he tells her as he climbs to his feet again, stretching sore limbs out. And then, to ease her, "I'll be more careful next time."
