AND THEN A MILLION YEARS LATER, I ARRIVED

He thought so.

[Altaïr often found himself unable to sleep, and as such, often found himself in Al Mualim's study. Not for answers, he eventually came to realize after the first few nights - because there were no answers to be found here that didn't lead to the Apple - but for solitude. None dared to step foot into the office, even so many months later.

And if he was honest with himself, it was to be close to a man who had meant too much to him. That betrayal still lay heavy on his chest, and if he wasn't careful, it would come to suffocate him.

It's not much of a surprise when he sees that Malik has found his way into this room. There is no intrusion of solitude, even if that's one of the reasons why Altaïr comes here. It's more comforting, he notices with actual surprise, to find himself not alone with the ghosts of the past.
