Belle should discourage him. For whatever reason that she needs to. Don't let him flirt, don't allow him to think he has a chance. But being alone in a foreign place, she has found, is a terrible thing. She spent a long time being alone without companionship, and that mostly resulted in her becoming a man-eater. Her sisters would be proud of her, attempting to be pleasant. Or friendly. Or whatever they think is appropriate for young women rubbing elbows with royalty to do.
