[ Yes, yes, wise choice to change the phrasing. Annabeth relaxes again. No falling. Avoiding volcanoes and rifts in the ground, shifts in tectonic plates, no flying. Should they stick to port side cities and towns? ]

How about a vague outline instead of a full out agenda?

[ Tonks pokes Sirius in the leg with her bare foot. They are totally at that stage where she can bother him with her toes. (To be honest, Tonks could be comfortable enough with a person five minutes after meeting them to annoy them.) Isn't her neon green polish lovely? ]

I...

[ Give her a minute she has to think! She leans back against the corner of the couch. This is not her first go-round with the whiskey glass. ]

I think... Yeah. I hid it though. Didn't want Dung or Molly to find it. Molly'd yell. Dung'd swipe it. You know how it would go.

[ There's just one, tiny problem. ]

I don't think I quite remember where I hid it. It's definitely one of three places. Maybe four.

[They can stick to wherever Annabeth likes. As long as no flying is definitely involved.

He nuzzles his face into her neck, breathing her in.] I like vague outlines. We can make up our own details then.

[There's a nod from Reyna now, that small smile still teasing across her lips, like it doesn't quite know if it should stay or not. Must be the effect of a Venus demigod, she thinks. Right?]

I have no doubts that you will. Particularly if you feel like you need to impress me now that I've said I'll be paying closer attention.

[ Around her back, Heather wraps her hand over forearm, lifting her eyebrows at the challenge presented. And then she smiles, because she knows what kind of power that simple expression has.

Since they're here and it's just the two of them, she may as well ask the question. ]

How do I go about really impressing you?

[ Maybe a trip to the Mediterranean and they can take a good look at the Parthenon, pay their respects to their parents. Percy can feast on real Greek food. Then - where else? China, Egypt, Japan, South Africa, Australia. See the Great Wall, the Sydney Opera House ...

Annabeth sits up taller, wrapping her arms around his shoulder, kissing the top of his head so he can rest his head in the crook of her neck. ]

Exactly. [ The distant voice, as he knows very well now, means that she's deep in thought. ]

[Her smile is... nice. A little wild, she thinks, smug. Like she knows the power behind it, which is understandable, Reyna thinks.

She arches an eyebrow back. Nobody has asked that of her before.]

Now, if I gave the answers to that, you wouldn't have to work as hard to figure it out.

[Is she flirting? Is this flirting???]

[A look that doesn't involve what it did before. The pain, the fighting. Actual exploration. That's something Percy could get behind, as long as they were together.

He stays like that for a moment, Annabeth's arms around him, his arm snaking around her waist to tug her closer to him.

There's a smile at her tone, the one that says she's probably planning anyway. He's fine with that. It's what makes her Annabeth, and he likes the familiarity of it all. He presses his lips to her neck in a soft kiss.] You're filling in that outline, aren't you?

[ Under normal circumstances, she might give a friend or flirt subject a little nudge but she keeps her distance, still, because it's more interesting to her. She doesn't want to push Reyna too far too soon. What does Heather want, anyway? Rare friendly conversation is one thing, but it also seems like she's opening it up to other things.

Perhaps she's just reading into it -- but, wait. As a child of a Venus, she should have better intuition. Go with the gut. Totally flirting. ]

You want me to work for it, if I'm hearing you correctly. I can do that.

[ perhaps this one is...a few sleepers short of a dream? What do you call someone unhinged in the Fade? They're all unhinged here. It's unfair, really ]

Right. Well.

[ Alistair rubs the back of his neck, which would look more casual and less forced if he wasn't wearing a heavy gauntlet. Such as it was, he really refrained from wincing as the metal edges scraped and tried his best for nonchalance ]

I think we're all good on the possessions here. Yes, no possessions to be had. None at all.

[ he groans ]

This isn't all a ruse to catch me off-guard and turn me into a toad, is it? Because that would really just...ruin my day.

[ blew up the Chantry. Solona has to close her eyes for a moment at that, somewhat horrified at herself when the only emotion she can rally is the sensation of a headache coming on. It is no surprise that someone would retaliate against the Chantry, not after years upon years of being stowed away in towers, or barracks, or wherever else the speakers of the Makers could stomach them. ]

It is...not unexpected.

[ Because she remembers people like Niall and Jowan and the others. Uldred. She remembers growing up and hearing all the whispers. Whispers eventually give way to shouting, and she feels something twist in her stomach when she remembers coming back to the Circle and seeing Templars scraping what was left of her classmates off the wall.

A war of mages-

She's not a Circle mage anymore. That's the thought she needs to hold onto for this.

you can take the mage out of the circle, but you can't take the circle out of the mage. ]

Where is the First Enchanter? Perhaps I can speak with him.

[ She smiles into his hair, drawn back into their conversation at the sound of his voice. ]

Of course I am. [ It's a pleasant train of thought. She often forgets how old they are most days, but if they can take on the worst, then surely no one can hold them back from this. ]

Looks like the sun's about to set.

[He gives a mock sigh, pulling back so that he can look at her instead.] You know I'm probably just going to ruin it, right? Just so that we're on the same page and all.

[He glances away from her - reluctantly - to look at the way the sun hits the water, orange reflecting on blue.] Which means we'll probably have to head back soon.

There were innocents in that chantry. [There are innocents lining the streets. There were innocents in the Circle in Ferelden. Innocents are the only ones who lose in war and bloodshed.

The First Enchanter?]

Orsino's dead. [He had thought Orsino was different. That he could have brought the mages together, maybe even have convinced Meredith to back down, breathe through this. But no. In the end, he was the same as any other mage, wasn't he? His mouth twists into something ugly for a moment, but then the dark feelings pass.

He needs to sit and rest, to eat. To get a drink of water. No, he needs something stronger than that, but he's pretty sure The Hanged Man is burning.] He resorted to blood magic in the end and allowed for a demon to possess him. [A beat.] The Knight-Commander is also dead. [He taps his fingers against his chest, listening to the hollow metal sound.] There's just me now, and the guard captain.

[ she nods, and beyond that she doesn't know what else to offer. war takes innocents, and she can't do anything about it. something that has been proven again and again to her ]

Blood magic. [ the repetition sounds hollow in her ears, and despite everything that's happened, her mind goes back to Jowan. His reasoning for adopting the darker arts. Love, power. The two went hand and hand so often and it was the recipe that brought upon his fate ]

And the...[ 'mage' doesn't feel fair. not after what he's started ] Aposta- Anders? [ he is a Warden, she reminds herself. He is a warden and they have been through so much together...

he murdered a chantry. the same chantrys that host refugees and orphans and widows]

Unfortunately. [ Knowing he would be eating a few tables away, sleeping a few cabins away, wasn't enough of a comfort for her. ]

Oh, and I'm about five steps ahead of you. I'm making room for alternate routes as we speak.

[ She smiles again and steals a kiss, not yet prepared to leave their cozy spot. ]

[Cullen grits his teeth at the sound of Anders' name. He knows the man, remembers him from Ferelden, in the tower. The mage who couldn't stand to be locked up. He remembers that he didn't agree that Anders should be in isolation, but he had been young then. Had no real clout among the templars And besides that, his friends all knew that he was a mage sympathizer. That he...

He glances at Solona again, allows himself to roam over her face.] He said it had been the only way, but there are other paths to take. [He remembers seeing Anders with Hawke and turning a blind eye because Hawke was important to Kirkwall. Kirkwall needed someone like Hawke and her collection of misfits.

Meredith had turned a blind eye, too. At first. And then couldn't do anything once Hawke had defeated the Arishok.] I don't know where he is now. Fled, I suppose. Unable to face the horrors he's begun. [A beat.] I thought Wardens didn't get involved?

They can handle a few more minutes without us. [He's not ready to be too apart from her yet, arm tightening around her. Nope nope nope, can't have his Annabeth.]

Of course you are. I should have known that. [There's a laugh now, that gets swallowed by the kiss he doesn't hesitate to return, breathing her in. This moment is perfect.]

[Revan's quiet for a moment. She doesn't really have the time or the patience for this nonsense, as amusing as it was for a few moments. But that's all it is. A few minutes worth of hilarity.]

Not entirely sure that's possible, soldier. The toad thing. One a scale of one to ten, exactly how sober are you?

[Reyna pauses, glancing at Heather from the corner of her eye. There's a part of her that feels uncomfortable. Not because Heather is another girl or because maybe, just maybe, she feels a slight attraction here. It's because flirting is really out of her realm of expertise, and Reyna doesn't like not knowing where her footing is.]

Exactly. Anything earned too easily isn't really worth keeping at that point.

[ Solona nods sadly, looking past Cullen to the smoking remnants of what she imagined to be the Kirkwall Circle. ] I think Templars and Mages can both agree on that, at the very least. [ she looks back to him, trying to make it clear where she stands. Part of her wonders why, between the two of them, she is the more seasoned, the more authorative. But for some strange reason, Solona has always felt the need to justify herself to this particular Templar more than the others ] He doesn't speak for all of us.

[ And of course, he ran. Anders was predictable in that one area, at the very least ]

They don't.

[ she can't help it as she bites down on her lower lip, feeling frustrated and tired, but she knows that she can't hold onto either of those emotions. It's clear that there is a lot to be done in Kirkwall, and she's only just arrived ]

I... [ I'm still a member of the Circle, she wants to say. But that's a lie. She had been cast out when she had helped Jowan's escape ] Anders is a Warden. [ she shakes her head ] Was a Warden.

[ a deep breath ] I conscripted him, back in Amaranthine. [ and she hates that again her weak heart has come back tenfold in the damage it's rendered ] If this is his doing, I'm... [ Solona trails off, gaze flatly taking in the carnage of the ruined Circle. ] He's my responsibility. [ because without her, Anders would have been taken into the custody of the Templars long ago. She had stepped outside of the Circle's law twice now, and both Jowan and Anders had made sure she suffered for it ]

[ For all her obliviousness, Heather is acutely aware that she is a lot better at this than most people. She was blessed with the ability to pick up easily on emotions, on body language and changes in voice. What good it did her here, though, having spent her first year pining over a boy from home. That life is behind her.

Anyway, there are new, interesting people to catch her attention. ]

I'm kind of unorthodox sometimes.

[ His nose gets a boop when she parts for air. And she laughs again because it simply feels good to have a reason to do so. ]

I think, deep down, you did know that. [ He said so himself to never underestimate her. She has yet to see him do so, at least since they first became close. ]
