[ she hasn't been in this tavern long, but the man there somehow demands attention despite not saying a word or even looking away from his tankard. she tells herself it's impolite to stare, and worse, it might invite an altercation she doesn't need if he's the regular patron of this type of place, but she keeps glancing up from her ale regardless to sneak looks at him.
