[ it's been a few months since the Victors all went their separate ways, and though Peeta has done his best to keep up with correspondence (writing helps him stay...where he is), he finds himself craving actual company beyond the skeleton of the Victor's Village.

Which is how he happens to be here, with a beautifully decorated birthday cake

[Things have been... strange. Most days are okay. The growing child inside of her - the child Finnick left her with, like he knew he wouldn't be able to stay with her even if Annie wishes she had him instead of this baby - keeps her focused most days. On those other days, Johanna is usually here.

Even if Annie wishes Johanna wasn't here.

She doesn't really like Johanna that much, but Finnick... Finnick did. And Johanna liked Finnick. So it works.

Today is a good day. She is calm and happy and hasn't forgotten anything yet. That she knows about, anyway. The knock on the door is confusing though. Was someone supposed to come by?

Her face lights up when she answers it.] Peeta!

[ he stands there, a rare smile growing on his face as he takes her in. She looks healthy, which is better than what any of the other Victors can say. he gives an awkward wave with the hand that's not holding the cake ]

Sorry for not letting you know I was coming.

[ he had, though. A week ago he sent a letter. But maybe Annie had forgotten or maybe Peeta had never really written it in the first place. it's hard to tell, most days ]

It's okay, very okay. Don't worry about it. [She's just glad for the company, especially the company of someone she is comfortable with. Annie's not very comfortable with others too much. Her therapist says that maybe it would help to talk to other people. No no no no.]
