If I took people who fought with me, you'd be dead. [The last thing he sees of her is her wrecked form on the floor, before he slams the door shut behind him.]

[After giving the situation some thought, Atton has come to the conclusion that sitting in a cell with no discernible way to get out - well, it sucks.

He tries standing for a while. It's not much better, but it relieves the monotony]

Of all the ways I could've died...

[From the cameras at the console, she can see that there's someone in one of the holding cells. And well, her first thought is, "Do I really want to have someone who's locked up helping me out here?" Her second thought kicks that thought in the ass. This isn't the time to become paranoid, after all. She's got no clothes, no memory of what's been happening to her, and somehow, some old woman has just come back from the dead and shown her an echo of something she's long since thought gone.

Besides... She knows what it's like to be trapped in a cell.

So Meetra unlocks the door and walks into the holding room.]

[At first he thinks he's hallucinating, because there's no way that door should be opening. And then he thinks he's dreaming because when his sleep isn't haunted by the Jedi, his mind lingers on her.

And then he registers that yup, this is reality, and he kind of wishes the door had stayed shut]

Are you an angel? [It's a stupid thing to say, and he acknowledges that a few seconds later. But it does its job in making it seem like he doesn't recognise her, doesn't know who she is, and that's the main thing]

[soulwound]

What? [It's the only thing that she can. Think of. A bemused smile quirks her lips up as she regards the prisoner in the cell.] That has to be the worst line I've ever heard. [It must be the sedatives in her system still, or the shock of everything's that happened since she got out of the kolto tank, or maybe it's the persistently distant song of the Force buzzing in her blood, but she doesn't recognize him at first.

It doesn't hit her until she's walked further into the room, standing outside of his cell that she realizes it. Her mouth opens to say something, but nothing comes out.]

Hey, I've been trapped in a cell for a week. You try coming up with something snappy under those kind of circumstances. [He buries himself in Atton, shoving Jaq under layers of numbers and lust, and for a moment he thinks he's going to be okay. And then she stops in front of his cell and he sees the light of recognition in her eyes.

He doesn't return it. He's Atton Rand now, and Atton Rand might have done a lot of things, but torturing Jedi isn't one of them] Uh. So how about you let me out of the cell and I give it another shot, huh?

[soulwound]

[It's been nearly ten years, but she would never forget his face. That's just something she can't forget. It's almost fitting that he's in a cell, that she would meet him again in one. Her head tilts as she looks him over, wonders how much of a threat he is.] What did you do to be put in the cell? You know that there are several dead miners floating in kolto tanks thanks to poisoning. And the others are all missing.

[Her voice is just shy of accusation.]

You don't think I had something to do with that? [He laughs like the idea is ridiculous, still sitting carefully on any trace of recognition] No way. This is all just a huge misunderstanding. I was gonna clear it up, but then they stopped bringing me food. [a beat] If they're all dead, I guess that explains why. I just thought I pissed them off.

[soulwound]

You are the one who's locked in a cell. [And Peragus doesn't seem like the type of place that's going to execute people. But despite what she knows about him - he tortures and kills Jedi, that she was a victim - she... honestly believes that he has no idea what happened to the miners. No idea who poisoned her and the others.]

I can't begin to imagine what you could have done to piss them off that much. [It's said in a dry tone, one eyebrow arched. Either he's playing dumb or he... Really doesn't recognize her. Not that she can blame him. One small non-Jedi out of hundreds. She's a nobody, after all.]

Hey, there are plenty of reasons a person can get locked in a cell.

[She's not going to let him get away with this, but he honestly doesn't have a better ploy. So he's just going to keep going along with it until he can't any more.] I...may or may not have been apprehended for a security violation. Nothing serious, really.

[soulwound]

I know.

[She smiles.] Some of the miners were thinking of turning a Jedi into the Exchange. Know anything about that kind of bounty? [You know, did you try and kidnap me to sell me off to the highest bidder for whatever reason.]

Although, that makes no sense. Why would a Jedi be worth anything? [She says that mostly to herself, running her fingers through her messy hair.]

[blackandgrey]

You're a Jedi? [He doesn't even have to feign surprise on that one. Last time he'd seen her she'd been claiming the opposite, after all.] Great. How about you lightsaber me some help over here, and I'll answer your questions?

[Some things are too far ingrained for even him to avoid. The tone of that 'great' makes it clear he thinks Jedi are anything but]

[soulwound]

I'm not a Jedi. [It's an automatic response. She's not. Hasn't been one for ten years now. She lifts the vibroblade in her hand, watching him carefully.] Deadly, but not exactly able to cut through anything.

[She turns away from him then, looking for the panel that controls the cell.] I don't know. I feel a little bit more comfortable with you there.

[There's a sense of resignation when she turns away to look for the control panel. He can't exactly blame her, but he's not looking forward to what's coming next.]

Why? I'm unarmed and I haven't eaten in three days. You've probably got more to worry about from accidentally tripping and falling on that vibroblade than you do from me. Unless you think I'm gonna smuggle at you or something.

[soulwound]

[Ah. There it is.] Because I have enough sense to be a little worried about a man who is locked in a cell, regardless of how weak he looks. [She places a hand on her hip, turning to glance back at him.] You're not a very good smuggler if you got caught, by the way.

[Her hand maybe accidentally slips a bit, sending a small shock throughout the cell before turns the electrified bars off, freeing him. She knows what he is, but she's not cruel either.

Besides, she could use his help.]

[Pazaak. He focusses on pazaak as she hunts for the panel, letting himself slip into the numbers. If he's going to be tortured, it's better to have something else to focus on.

But then she comments on his smuggling skills, and Atton Rand can't stand for that] Hey! I am a great smuggler, thanks. Getting caught once in nearly a decade isn't exactly a bad rate, you know.

[His teeth grit a little as the shock jolts him, but he doesn't make a sound. And then, much to his surprise, the cell disengages. He's free.] What was that for? [He makes sure to sound as petulant and grumpy as he can, rubbing his arm]

[soulwound]

You still got caught. Your reputation is ruined as a smuggler.

[She turns around after she's disengaged the cell, a look of surprise and confusion on her face.] I just set you free. I'm not about to let you sit in there and wait for a slow death. [Nope, not admitting to the shock at all, but for the first time in what feels like an eternity, she actually feels good. She grins at him.] My name is Meetra, by the way. Meetra Surik.

From what you're telling me, everyone on this station is dead anyway. That makes it your word against mine.

[He narrows his eyes at her, all dopey suspicion] You shocked me. [He lets the attitude soften at the grin, buries the instinctive 'I know' when she offers her name] Atton Rand. Thanks, I guess.

[soulwound]

I have a more believable face.

[As if to prove her point, her eyebrows go up and her eyes widen in a look of honest innocence.] My hand must have slipped. I was drugged beyond the normal limit not too long ago.

[She looks him over for a second.] You don't really look like an Atton.

[blackandgrey]

[He pauses for a moment, taking in her face. She really is attractive. Especially when she's not collapsed on the ground bleeding from the mouth] I guess I can't disagree with that.

[He mutters under his breath in response to that, but doesn't really say anything worthwhile. He frowns when she makes that comment about his name, like he doesn't understand] I'm as Atton as Atton'll ever be. Do we have a plan for getting out of here, or did you just want my good company?

[soulwound]

[It's because she's in her undies, isn't it, Atton?] Hard to do it, really.

[She wonders how long he'll keep up this act. She wonders how long she'll keep dancing around it, really.] Of course you are.

I... [She shrugs then.] Find a ship, find other survivors, save them, get out of here?

[blackandgrey]

What's that supposed to mean? [He's addressing that 'Of course you are' reasoning that if he's bringing up, he's less likely to look guilty.

If there're people still alive in this place and they decided not to feed me, I am going to be so annoyed.

[soulwound]

Nothing, Jaq. [It's a casual slip of her tongue, said when she turns around and begins to walk out of the room and back towards the main console.]

I don't believe that you are high on their priority list. The droids seem to have been malfunctioning and shooting organics.

[blackandgrey]

[He doesn't even react, doesn't flinch or hesitate] Atton. [He corrects her with a huff running to catch up as she leaves the room. That's who he is.

There's a pause] The droids are what.

[soulwound]

Atton. [She repeats, as if correcting herself.

She points to the shambling droids in the room.] I sliced into their programming, so they're fine. But I was attacked a few times when making my way here. Some of the security logs have mentioned droids planting explosives in the mines? Did you hear anything about that while locked up?
