"You know, it's weird." She's sitting on a low wall at the edge of a wide training field, absently swinging her legs back and forth as she watches Seph. "We never really trained back home. I mean, I pushed myself further, but it wasn't really like this. People having specific areas and focus and being so....regimented about it. It was like, you had the power, or you didn't." A smile. "I'm guessing it wasn't exactly the same for you."

Seph tilts his head as he looks up at her, shaking curls from his face. "It's the same where I'm from. You're born with the power, but it's not going to go anywhere if you don't do anything for it." A smirk slides across his face. "Also not training is like letting a rabid dog run free in a park full of kids."

Her head tilts back, but it's for a totally different reason. There's a small (large) chance that she's just kind of admiring him right now. Especially those curls. "I guess it's easier to accept some things if you actually have to work for them. it might've been nice to actually have someone who could train us, instead of just having to stumble along. But, it is what it is!" She pouts at him. "I'm pretty sure you just insulted me."

That's nothing unusual, really. Not for Seph. He's been told that he's good looking. What was it that Leesha had said? Something about how he looked like a god. So he recognizes the way Catty looks at him before looking away from her again and rolling his neck. "Hey, you're telling me. I didn't even meet another wizard until..."

Until the Havens.

A dead look crosses over his face before he becomes animated again. "Well, not until I was about sixteen." A grin. "You're a lot prettier than a rabid dog, Cujo."

That dead look intrigues her more than how pretty he is, to be honest. The temptation to rummage around in his mind is there, but she's not convinced that he wouldn't be able to sense her there. Which is not a conversation she really wants to have at the moment.

"I was fifteen." She accepts the change in subject easily. "When I found out what I was, that is. The powers were all there before it." The compliment makes her laugh, pressing her wrist to her forehead in a mock swoon. "Why Mr. McCauley, I do declare." He gets a wink. "So are you."

"I was younger." It's like some kind of competition now. "But, uh. The woman who raised me didn't exactly trust wizards. It's and underguild thing." He doesn't trust them either. Not really.

Seph laughs at the expression, crossing his arms over his chest. "Thanks?"

"I love Europe," he mutters, but there's a moment where a sharp pang hits him. He misses home, misses the familiar.

"That must've sucked." She'd thought being a Daughter was awesome when she'd first found out, and it is, but...things are different, in hindsight. "Aren't you a wizard, though? Wasn't there like, an issue with that?"

Her hand flops back to the wall so she can steady herself. "You're welcome! It's not every guy who gets a compliment from Catty Turner, you know. You should be honoured."

"Well, she kind of thought being raised by a sorcerer could keep the wizard part of me out of it. But magic is magic, and it can't really be stopped." Maria had been a good mother to him, though. And she'd instilled the right kind of uncertainty about wizards that he still needs.

"I've never had a greater honor in my life."

"Wait." The way she looks at him shifts, becomes legitimately curious. Tales about abilities and things are way more interesting than his face, to be honest. "There's a difference between sorcerers and wizards?"

The flirting gets dropped, too. She can pick that up any time.

She hears the shift in his voice, and does stop. Just for a moment, enough time for him to catch up to her side. "The advantage is that our alcohol is much stronger than what you Americans call liquor." That's her being comforting.

[Hazel tries really hard not to laugh at the way he says her name and the way he grins himself, but she does, letting out a short giggle and covering her mouth with one hand in the process. He's kind of basically adorable, and if she wasn't feeling so flustered right now, she'd probably hug him.] You're so... [Yeah she's not nothing.]

[Her face softens.] I wonder how easy it would be to sleep on one, though.

Rude, Catty. His face is beautiful. "Yeah. Wizards are more about word magic, making things happen. Sorcerers work with items, like weapons and potions."

He's always surprised when people ask that question. After all, they're two different words. Why wouldn't they be different?

Well, that's different. They walk side by side now, his hands still shoved into his pockets. "Have you ever had American liquor? I wouldn't exactly judge until you did." He appreciates it.

She takes a moment to consider that. "So there's like, no crossover at all? What stops a wizard from working with weapons and potions?"

She raises an eyebrow at him. "When did I ever make a statement I couldn't back up fact?" Or intimidate people into accepting her point of view. Winning is more important, sometimes.

"I can't go around checking Wikipedia every time you say you have a fact, Sophia." But he grins at her. For the most, she's pretty right. It's annoying.

"The fact that it's beneath them to do."

Wizard pride and all.

[ it's been days of absolute boredom, and as Loki sits contained in his cell on this backwater realm, it's something of a relief when he sees new prisoners arriving, dragged in by those cretins. Their apparel screams of Midgard, their age of ignorance. Still. One takes the small joys where one can.

He leans back, making himself more comfortable as he tosses up an apple into the air, catches it, and tosses it back again. The people of Nefandus are ever so cliche with their prisoner's sustenance. He almost expects a pomegranate to arrive for his next meal.

Loki of Asgard leans forward, evaluating the mortals. One is on the ground, laying still. He smiles at her blonde companion:]

On the positive side, she must only be unconscious. I imagine it's quite a waste to imprison the dead.

[Vanessa barely registers that there's anyone else here when they're first dragged up the stairs. She's too busy freaking out, body vibrating. But she has no power, no molecules actually buzzing. No, she's just full on in panic mode. Her hands shake as she grabs for Serena, cradling her head gently.

It's only when she hears that voice that her head whips around, blonde curls in a disarray and in her face as she glares at him.]

[ he gives a small smirk of contentment, tossing the apple up again and catching it. He repeats the motion for a few minutes, letting the situation soak in to the Midgardian. ]

Might as well make yourself comfortable. I believe the standard sentence is whiling away unto eternity.

[Who is this guy, and why is he even here? Her teeth grit together for a moment before she calms down again. There's no point in getting angry.]

The Atrox won't keep us here forever.

[ He's bored. That's it, really.

his eyebrows raise ]

I highly doubt an Immortal creature is concerned with expediency.

[ Midgardians. Their concept of 'forever' is almost laughable. ]

[Her teeth worried a groove into her bottom lip. Not expediency, no. Not when it can torture them a little bit first. But it wouldn't wait forever. Not when it had two Daughters.]

You don't know the Atrox very well, then.

[ he scoffs dismissively ]

There's no benefit to learning one so lowly as the embodiment of shadow.

The mortals do not even include him in their texts, he is worth so little recognition.
