It's exhilarating. Derek doesn't hold back beyond what it takes for them to not seriously hurt each other, and Maya likes that. She's on the verge of leaping for him again, when she staggers instead.

If a cougar could have an oh crap face, that's what Maya would look like right now. A shudder runs right through her bones as she feels herself starting to lose grip on the form. The wouldn't be so terrible, really, if not for the fact that her clothes are definitely nowhere nearby.

Instead of attacking, she turns tail and runs, crashing through the trees. Maybe she'll reach them in time. Hopefully she'll sleep change. She's totally done that before. She'll be lucky this time, she will.

That's the last thought in her mind before consciousness slips away from her.
