[efficient]

No magic. [He nods in agreement. That's fine. He can live without it. For a few hours, at least.

A grin spreads across his face at her acceptance of the idea, and he climbs to his feet, holding his hand out to her. There's a light in his eyes that hasn't been there in who knows how long now.] Well then. Maddie Moss, would you do me the pleasure of dancing with me on this clear, musicless night?

[eliciting]

[Maddie sort of stares at him for a moment, but the look on his face has a smile growing a little brighter on her own. She's missed that lightness in him. She reaches up and takes his hand, using it to pull herself up, but she doesn't let go once she's standing.]

As long as you promise not to step on my toes.

[efficient]

[He pulls her in closer when she stands up, keeping the hand he's holding firmly in his grasp as his other arm wraps around her waist. He waits a moment, just looking at her before he begins moving them in slow circles.] Only if you give me the same promise. I'm a little delicate.

[eliciting]

[She rests her hand on his shoulder, easily starting to sway and keeping up pace as he starts moving them. It's... nice. Normal. Super normal and a comfortable normal. And then she lets out a short laugh.] I'm not sure delicate is a word I could or would use to describe you at this point.

[efficient]

[It's definitely nice. Seph has never thought about normal being used to describe his life, but he can get used to it, he thinks.

He gives her a feigned look of innocence. Or that's what he's going for at least.] What, you don't think I'm delicate?

[eliciting]

Do you want me to answer that honestly? [Though she's definitely amused by the look he's trying to pull rn, turning him a little more into the circle they're spinning in.]

[efficient]

I always want honesty from you, Maddie. [He doesn't mean for it to be as serious as it comes out, especially considering that he's trying to make the night light in mood, but... They've had some of truth issues before, and he doesn't want that to happen again.]

[eliciting]

[She stiffens for a moment, because. Well. It has been a thing between them in the past. But it's not anymore, so she relaxes soon enough, and opts for that honesty.] Then no. I don't think you're delicate at all.

[It's meant to be teasing, but she also knows how powerful he is.] Would you even feel it if I stepped on your toes? [Back to teasing tho.]

[efficient]

[He waits when she stiffens like that, waits for the moment to end or something, for him to have messed up somehow. But when she relaxes against him again, he pulls her all the closer for it.] Well, I'm delicate where it matters, I'm sure.

[She's powerful now, too, he thinks. Maybe more than him. They're equal in other ways, though.] That depends on how hard you're thinking of stomping on them.

[eliciting]

[It's nice, when he pulls her in. She could really get used to this.] And where, dare I ask, does it matter?

[Maddie hums a thoughtful noise.] A warning kind of defeats the purpose, wouldn't you agree?

[efficient]

Hey, no, you don't get to learn all of my secrets in one night. Isn't that how relationships work? [A grin.]

But haven't you already warned me, Maddie? [He leans in, lips brushing over her temple.] So what's a little more.

[eliciting]

One more secret wouldn't hurt though, would it? [She's grinning back, despite herself.]

[Her eyes close for a moment when he kisses her, and she's distracted by it briefly before she finally answers.] That'd make it a full warning. There's no fun in that. It could be like a test.

[efficient]

I don't know if I like your idea of a test that could be fun. No test is ever fun.

[But at her question, he pulls on a feigned look of deep thought, as if weighing whether or not he should say something. He could make something ridiculous up, or be sappy in a terrible way. What he goes with is honesty, and maybe some sap.] I'm delicate where you matter.

[eliciting]

Plenty of tests can be fun, if you go about them the right way. [She may or may not be just trying to be contradictory.]

[Maddie can feel her cheeks going a little red, and she tries to play it off with a laugh. Though the laugh is pretty genuine, too. Because he really is a sap, but for whatever reason, she likes it.] So does that mean I can take advantage of your delicateness easily? Sounds like I have a bit of a boost there.

[efficient]

Yeah, and what way is the right way exactly? [Totally unsure.]

[He's a total sap, and he'd feel embarrassed right now if it wasn't for the fact that he likes the sound of her laugh and how close she is to him and just about everything about this date.] That'd be a little rude, don't you think?

[eliciting]

Depends on the person. [Yeah, totally making this up as she goes along now.]

I could make it up to you, maybe. If you really think it's rude. [And you know, if he wouldn't be okay with it in actuality.]

[efficient]

You're making this up, aren't you? [He smirks.]

Depends on how you plan on making it up to me.
