[A sigh, but his tone is fond when he speaks] Shut up, Jordan.

[shepherds]

[He doesn't say anything, but the glance he gives her and the squeeze of her hand says it for him. Yup]

[She ducks her head and smiles, running her thumb over the back of his hand.] So are you going to tell me now?

[shepherds]

You'll figure it out when we get there.

[shepherds]

That seems to be happening a lot tonight.

[shepherds]

That's too bad. [He keeps on in that vein until they reach their destination. Which happens to be a very fancy hotel]

[Which makes her more unsure. And excited. But mostly unsure.] You got us a hotel room?

[shepherds]

You've been working hard, lately. [Or always] You could use a break.

[falsifies]

Oh. [She's not really sure what to say about that. They could have taken a break at home. But she supposes that's the exact opposite of what a break is.] You did this for me?

[shepherds]

Mmhmm. [Getting out of the car and opening the door for her. He knows Jordan, and he's not expecting jumping for joy or anything like that. They're not that kind of couple] Get out, the valet's not going to move the car with you in it.

[falsifies]

[Wow. Dick.

Jordan glares at him before getting out of the car, wrapping her arms around herself.] I'm not dressed for a hotel that has a valet.

[shepherds]

[His eyes scan her form. His appreciation is pretty obvious]</small. You're fine.

[falsifies]

[Despite her protests, there is the tiniest of smirks on her face.] They're going to think I'm a prostitute, aren't they?

[shepherds]

You have been watching too much Pretty Woman. [He takes her hand and pops the boot. He already packed a bag with clothes so she doesn't look like a prostitute when they leave the next day] Come on.

[falsifies]

[There are a thousand things running through her mind. He could be intending to kill her. Or he could be breaking up with her. Because this is sort of public, and she can't make a scene. But for the first time in what is probably forever, she just glances at the bag then back up at him and remains quiet. If he's going to take charge, she'll let him stay in that position.]

[shepherds]

[He sighs, practically reading her thoughts on her face. Tugging her to him, he presses a kiss to her forehead] I'm not going to kill you. [a beat] Or break up with you.

I need to work on my poker face. [But she sighs, eyes closing briefly when he kisses her.]
