[Catty smiles brightly] There we go. Now I don't have to call you any more names.

I think he's out for Serena more than he's out for himself. [Look, Vanessa just wants to try and see the good in him because it still has to exist, right? Right?]

Yeah, see-- [Catty gestures between them] You and me? Not Serena. You know, he trapped you in his memories and then betrayed you, why are you on his side anyway? [It's not accusing, more legit curious. Do you have a thing for Stanton, Vanessa???

Stuffing a cookie in her mouth] Nope. I don't know what you're talking about. [She called you stupid earlier]

[fatedchaos]

I know that. [Sigh.] He's also helped us out. A lot. [She makes a face.] I'm not on his side. I just think that not all of him is bad. [Nudging Catty.] I like to give people the benefit of the doubt when I can.

[Um, no. She doesn't. Have you seen Michael? Yum.]

[traitorously]

[Catty sighs] It's almost like you're a goddess of hope.

[Have you seen Stanton? Not that Catty goes for that but come on]

[A snort.] How strange! I never would have guessed.

[... She's seen Stanton. He's good looking or something, sure.]

[Catty just nudges her back. She's missed this, desperately. More than she can admit out loud right now]

Of course I know that. Who wouldn't? [Another nudge] It's nice to hear, though.

[fatedchaos]

[Nudging back. Gurl.]

I just had to make sure! You've been floating around in nothingness for awhile. [Nudgenudge.] It's nice to be able to say.

[traitorously]

[Omg stop nudging!!! Nudges back!!!! It's definitely a lot easier to do that than think about, you know. Floating in nothingness] That just made remember more, okay? Anyway, let's forget about it now, it's over and done with. What's up with this Tianna girl, exactly? I only got bits and pieces.

[fatedchaos]

[Stop nudging her and she will totally stop nudging back then!!!!!] Okay. If you want. But I'm here for you whenever. [Catty, bottling up your feels is bad.]

I'm not really sure. For saving you and everything, though, Selene's granted her the chance to be a Daughter of the Moon. There's more of us now.

[traitorously]

[She stops nudging and gives Vanessa a bright smile] I know. Because you're the best.

[Cue thoughtful look, though] She seems pretty cool. I mean, she did decide to help out a bunch of crazy girls claiming they were goddesses to help save another goddess in a different dimension. I didn't know that someone could just...become a Daughter, though. Like, it's kind of implied in the name, Daughter of the Moon.

[fatedchaos]

[She shakes her head.] No I'm not.

[She's quiet for a moment, thinking it over.] I think it kind of took her awhile to come to the conclusion of helping us, though. Also, it's not like we're really her daughters. I mean, your real mom was one. [Wouldn't that be a little awkward, Catty? Doesn't that sound awkward to you?]

[traitorously]

I think so. [So shut up.]

Fair enough. We can't all be alien princesses, growing up. [Catty tilts her head to one side, thinking about it] Well, yeah, but I still thought it was something we were born as. It's just weird, you know? I'm not about to be like 'oh no, you can't be one' or anything. Not after what she did for me.

[fatedchaos]

[Nyeh :P]

She did do a lot for you. [More than Vanessa could, and that's upsetting. She does her best to not look like it bothers her though.] I think it's because she is just blessed, you know? We were blessed at birth, but Selene acknowledged that she has the same gift of hope that we do.

[traitorously]

[Catty is kind of...well, Catty, i.e. oblivious, so she just looks thoughtful] She did. I'll have to find some way to say thank you. [Stuffing another cookie in her mouth. She's just going to fat around for a couple of days.] Do you ever feel like there's more to this whole thing than we know about?

[fatedchaos]

Bake her some fudge. [Seems legit to Vanessa, at least. She grabs another cookie, nibbles at it.] All the time. Nobody ever tells us anything about... anything. Maggie doesn't clue us in, the goddesses don't clue us in.

[traitorously]

[That gets a laugh out of her] Oh yeah, that'll go over great. Hey, thanks for risking your life to save me, I made you baked goods.

[She takes a moody bite of another cookie] It's always a test. [A pause] Do you think Maggie knew my mother?

[fatedchaos]

What better way to thank someone than with baked goods? We're teenage girls. What else are you going to, offer her eternal servitude? [Because Catty, that'd be the worst job for you. Honestly.]

We're never good enough. [She's quiet for a second.] She had to have.

[traitorously]

[Another laugh] I'm pretty sure there's something in between fudge and eternal servitude. At least, I hope there is. Maybe I'll paint her something.

[She frowns now, though] I don't know if it's that we're never good enough. It's more like, Maggie thinks we're good enough, but we have to keep proving it, you know? There's no taking a break or being allowed to just sit down and go, okay I defeated enough evil for the week. I don't know. [Catty looks down at her cookie] She just kind of dropped it on me. 'That necklace belongs to a fallen goddess'. There wasn't some other way she could let me know?

[fatedchaos]

What's wrong with fudge? [No xc]

That doesn't make any sense, Catty. Why would we have to keep proving something over and over? Each test is harder. I almost lost you. [Huff. She takes out a couple of cookies and stuffs them into her mouth.] Maybe she thought that you knowing about your mom being a fallen goddess would hurt you. Or tempt you.

[traitorously]

Nothing's wrong with fudge. I can do both! [CX]

I don't know, because evil keeps tempting us over and over? [She rests her head against her friend's shoulder again] You didn't, though. I'm still here and I'm not planning on going anywhere any time soon. [She's quiet, trying to absorb that]

I don't think that's right. We get tempted all the time - look at Serena. [She sighs] Do you think...there's more chance of me falling, though? I mean, my mom did. And apparently my dad's a demon. Not exactly a great track record.

[fatedchaos]

Yeah, doing both sounds good. [No it doesn't.]

Serena's one mistake aside, none of us have actually fallen to evil. [Stroking her hair again.] As long as you don't act recklessly, you better be here.

[Serena is already half-dark.] Yeah, but. It's your mom. That's kind of a higher calling than someone's boyfriend. [She shakes her head.] No way. I know you, Catty. You'd never go down that path.

[traitorously]

I'll do that, then. But if she hates it, I'm blaming you.

[Catty's eyes slide shut with the hair stroking for a moment. It feels nice] I'll stop acting recklessly when you stop acting paranoid.

[Catty wonders if she's all dark. After all, what chance does she have, with parents like hers? Her mom made the right choices in the end, but...] You think?

[fatedchaos]

One, you're a great fudge maker. Two, the painting was your idea, not mine. So blame yourself.

[She hums softly for a moment, kind of wanting to stop talking completely.] My paranoia isn't going to get me killed. It kind of does the opposite.

I know.

[traitorously]

But you said it would be a good idea.

[She just lets that thread of conversation drop, enjoying the fact that she can just be around her friend and, you know, actually be seen and understood by her. The contact is nice, too]

Okay. But I'm holding you to that.
