I could really do with less fun at this point. Maybe something normal like, worrying about tests or getting into college. Maybe even a car accident.

[Vanessa laughs when she's tugged onto the bed, cuddling up to Catty. It's nice to feel her again. She really hopes this isn't a dream.] WE do. This is cause for a fattening celebration.

[traitorously]

[Catty shrugs] What's the point? [All of that comes after seventeen, after all] Hold on, did you just say that we should get into a car accident? Because I'm pretty sure that Jimena's brother is coming to town soon, and we've seen the way she drives...

[Her head rests against Vanessa's shoulder as she rips into the bag, very chivalrously offering the other girl first pick.] Considering that I'm pretty sure I didn't have anything to eat the whole time I was there? Absolutely.

[fatedchaos]

[Vanessa's eyes widen.] No, no. I didn't say that. You're imagining things, and there's no way I'm climbing into a car with Jimena again. No.

[With a smile, Vanessa picks out two cookies, nibbling at one.] What was it even like? Did you feel hungry? Were you tired?

[traitorously]

[Catty nudges her] No, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you said. It sounds like kind of a challenge, to be honest. [Except not really. Time travel hurts enough.

Catty pulls out two cookies, makes a cookie sandwich, and munches on them both at once. There's a moment of quiet, because she doesn't really want to think about it, but maybe talking with Vanessa will help] It...was pretty terrible. Kind of being able to tell what was happening, but not really. Being by myself. I felt pretty crappy, but then Tianna brought me back and I felt like a human being again. Maybe the tunnel adds ten pounds.

[fatedchaos]

[Nudging back.] No, it's not a challenge. Catty! We are not getting into car accidents. It was a joke.

Just going to shove the cookie into her mouth now. Catty's always been crazy, but she really hopes that's a joke.

She's quiet, concentrating on eating and listening to her friend and trying to not be upset.] I missed you. So much. Don't do anything that stupid again.

[traitorously]

[She starts to laugh in the face of Vanessa's distress, but there's an edge to it. Not hysteria, but maybe something close to it. She hasn't had much reason to laugh in the past few weeks. She wasn't sure she'd ever be able to again.

Shoving some more cookies in to stop the sound before she actually sounds like a crazy person. More so, that is. Vanessa's words make it easier to sober up] ...I won't do it again unless I have to. [She can't promise not to do it again at all. As terrible as it was, she'd do it all over again before putting Vanessa through it]

[fatedchaos]

[With her free hand, she brushes her fingers through Catty's hair, hearing that edge to her laugh. Not that she blames her, after all, all things considered. Vanessa would have gone mad a long time ago. But then again, Catty's a lot stronger and braver than she is.]

No have to. You just won't. Because we'll be looking out for each other, and you're not going to throw yourself in front of a crazy man's powers. [Seriously, she's not going to watch you die again. Almost die. Get zapped to another dimension.]

[traitorously]

[It feels nice, and helps calm some of that not-hysteria clawing at her throat. She reaches for another cookie and stuffs it in her mouth to cover the rest of it, chewing noisily]

Well. Not that crazy man at least. I mean, he got turned into a ball of light and trapped in Stanton's memories, right? [Unless she imagined that happening. It's possible]

[fatedchaos]

Yeah. [Vanessa bites into the other cookie she's holding, mulling it over. So maybe Lambert's gone, but aren't there others? People more powerful than Lambert? And Catty's so reckless, how is she supposed to protect her?] Stanton will keep him locked up for us.

[A beat.] I'm sorry. That I got in the way, that you had to rescue me.

[traitorously]

[She makes a face. Stanton may have helped her and the others but there's still a big part of him that's evil.] Too bad we don't have some way of keeping an eye on him, too.

[Catty's on like, her fourth cookie at this point, but Vanessa's comment makes her slow her roll. She stares at her friend.] What? [That's stupid] That's stupid. You don't have anything to say sorry for. It was just bad luck.

[fatedchaos]

[A frown.] You think he'll betray us?

[She reaches into the bag for another cookie, glancing away from Catty as she eats it.] But it was still because of me.

[traitorously]

I think that we don't know that he won't. [She pauses for a second] If that...makes sense. [Words are hard!!]

Hey. [She brushes the crumbs off her fingertips before using her free hand to gently turn Vanessa's face back to hers] When you start throwing lightning at yourself and I have to block that, then you can blame yourself. Until that happens, it was Lambert's fault. No one else's. Okay?

[fatedchaos]

I think he's helped us out enough that we can't just think he'd suddenly turn on us. [She doesn't even know why she's waving the Stanton flag in her little corner, but she still sort of sees him as a friend.]

But... [She looks at Catty and sighs before nodding.] Yeah, okay. It was Lambert's fault.

[traitorously]

It doesn't have to be sudden for him to turn on us. I just think he's out for himself as much or more than he's out for any of us.

[Catty smiles brightly] There we go. Now I don't have to call you any more names.

[fatedchaos]

I think he's out for Serena more than he's out for himself. [Look, Vanessa just wants to try and see the good in him because it still has to exist, right? Right?]

Wait. You're calling me names?

[traitorously]

Yeah, see-- [Catty gestures between them] You and me? Not Serena. You know, he trapped you in his memories and then betrayed you, why are you on his side anyway? [It's not accusing, more legit curious. Do you have a thing for Stanton, Vanessa???

Stuffing a cookie in her mouth] Nope. I don't know what you're talking about. [She called you stupid earlier]

[fatedchaos]

I know that. [Sigh.] He's also helped us out. A lot. [She makes a face.] I'm not on his side. I just think that not all of him is bad. [Nudging Catty.] I like to give people the benefit of the doubt when I can.

[Um, no. She doesn't. Have you seen Michael? Yum.]

You're so rude.

[traitorously]

[Catty sighs] It's almost like you're a goddess of hope.

[Have you seen Stanton? Not that Catty goes for that but come on]

You love me.

[fatedchaos]

[A snort.] How strange! I never would have guessed.

[... She's seen Stanton. He's good looking or something, sure.]

Always. You know that, right?

[traitorously]

[Catty just nudges her back. She's missed this, desperately. More than she can admit out loud right now]

Of course I know that. Who wouldn't? [Another nudge] It's nice to hear, though.

[fatedchaos]

[Nudging back. Gurl.]

I just had to make sure! You've been floating around in nothingness for awhile. [Nudgenudge.] It's nice to be able to say.

[traitorously]

[Omg stop nudging!!! Nudges back!!!! It's definitely a lot easier to do that than think about, you know. Floating in nothingness] That just made remember more, okay? Anyway, let's forget about it now, it's over and done with. What's up with this Tianna girl, exactly? I only got bits and pieces.

[fatedchaos]

[Stop nudging her and she will totally stop nudging back then!!!!!] Okay. If you want. But I'm here for you whenever. [Catty, bottling up your feels is bad.]

I'm not really sure. For saving you and everything, though, Selene's granted her the chance to be a Daughter of the Moon. There's more of us now.

[traitorously]

[She stops nudging and gives Vanessa a bright smile] I know. Because you're the best.

[Cue thoughtful look, though] She seems pretty cool. I mean, she did decide to help out a bunch of crazy girls claiming they were goddesses to help save another goddess in a different dimension. I didn't know that someone could just...become a Daughter, though. Like, it's kind of implied in the name, Daughter of the Moon.

[fatedchaos]

[She shakes her head.] No I'm not.

[She's quiet for a moment, thinking it over.] I think it kind of took her awhile to come to the conclusion of helping us, though. Also, it's not like we're really her daughters. I mean, your real mom was one. [Wouldn't that be a little awkward, Catty? Doesn't that sound awkward to you?]
